The initial thought of the Irvine CubeSat Program was from Dr. Freeze when he was working with Arnold O. Beckman High School's Engineering Club in the weather balloon launching. Upon seeing this program through, Arnold O Beckman's Dr. Lewanski, physics teacher, and Dr. Freeze kept in close contact which later would lead to the first step of the program. Dr. Freeze was unable to let go of this idea, and when he talked to his neighbors, Mr. Sosa, one morning of October 2015, everything seems to fall into place since Mr. Sosa worked with IUSD through the PTA.
Dr. Freeze had contacted Dr. Lewanski two years after this incident. Dr. Freeze not only had his full support from Beckman students, but he found his first team for the Irvine CubeSat program, Beckman Avionics. Following Beckman, Dr. Freeze and Mr. Sosa interviewed the other teachers at the remaining Irvine schools based on their resources and skill set to construct the remaining teams.
